Mechanism
Explore how an intervention could influence FXI activation.
Cardiovascular / FXI & clot prevention
Could an oral medicine interrupt a clotting trigger before it becomes fully active? We are exploring that question with the ambition of expanding future options for clot prevention.

The opportunity
For teams developing clot-prevention medicines, the central ambition is protection that fits patients' lives while addressing bleeding risk. Our direction focuses on Factor XI and the process that activates it. The research opportunity is to explore an oral small molecule that could intervene at this earlier step.
Our research direction
An activation-focused strategy raises different design questions from simply blocking the active enzyme. We want to examine how a small molecule might engage the relevant protein state, what selectivity would require, and which experimental comparison would make the direction worth pursuing. Published FXI research helps frame those questions; it does not establish the performance of our proposed approach.

Where we could connect
This direction could be relevant to teams with coagulation biology, medicinal chemistry, translational models or clinical-development expertise. A first discussion can connect your priorities with the proposed mechanism and identify a bounded evaluation: the question, available evidence, comparison and responsibilities.

A useful program needs a specific reason to exist. Here, the proposed distinction is an oral approach to the activation process. The next step is to test whether that distinction can offer a meaningful development advantage in a defined setting.
That is a development objective, not an established property of this research direction. A credible evaluation would compare clot prevention and bleeding-related outcomes in the same relevant setting; oral delivery alone would not establish an advantage.
Start with the decision your team wants to make and the expertise you could contribute. We can discuss a focused evaluation before a broader program commitment, with scope, costs and intellectual-property terms agreed for the engagement.
This page presents an early research direction for collaboration. It is not a treatment offering or a clinical-trial recruitment page.
